KATRINA NEUMANN
I explore the ephemeral experience, travel, landscapes, urban integration of nature, culture, city parks, conversation, travel memoirs and story telling.

My work reads like a travel memoir. My process is intuitive and reacts to my surrounding environments and communities. The projects I make do not last long; photographs, literature, sound, installation and videography archive my projects. I am interested in ideas of travel, optimism, changing landscapes, community, happiness, nowness, time, slowness, the art of doing nothing, romantic painters, and vagabonding. I investigate how people react to their natural surroundings and landscape, especially in urban epicenters.

I examine the Sublime versus the Post-Modern Sublime questioning if it is possible to encounter the majestic in nature today and if we can still experience the Sublime ideal of yesterday through daily exploration. I thread through locations by way of my body, sensory, experience, and communication in search of the transcendental today as a present-day explorer of this world.
